My New Goto Hotel Near Cousin Bernie

Pros:It's all good.
Cons:As another cousin of mine Charlie would say, "Jersey mosquitoes are big, plentiful, and hungry."
The Bottom Line: A lot of bang for the buck, but it is in New Jersey, a wasteland state, next to one of the greatest cities on earth.

We stayed at this Residence Inn on the recommendation of my cousin Bernie on January 7, 2012.  This hotel is close to Princeton University and off exit 8A of the Jersey Turnpike, less than five minutes from his place in Rossmoore.  There are 108 suites on 3 floors and one meeting room.  This Marriott has a smoke-free policy.  We did see small, well behaved dogs on the property.  The pet policy is a $100 non-refundable sanitation fee.  Check in is at 4pm.  We were allowed to check in hours earlier.  The room card reader was not working at one of the entrances.  I mentioned it to the front desk and to my amazement, a maintenance worker repaired it within 5 minutes.  The hotel staff that we experienced on this visit, from the front desk to maintenance, were outstanding.

Our room was an open, one bedroom apartment, complete with fully stocked kitchen, regular size appliances, granite countertops, kitchen table, wood floors, high ceilings, king size bed, sitting area complete with sofa, chair, and cocktail table, flat panel television, plenty of closet space, and lots of windows.  All guest rooms have wifi, coffee, tea, and even micro-wave popcorn in each suite.  After a long day, I'm able to sleep through anything.  My wife did mention the noise of the truck traffic in the middle of the night.  I mentioned the noise to my cousin.  He said that he will give her an ambien next time we're up.

We had a wonderful, complimentary hot buffet breakfast in the breakfast area.  There were too many hot and cold items to mention, including several types of yogurt.  The pickiest eater or those that have dietary restrictions will not have a problem here.

There is complimentary internet and printer in the business center at the hotel.  We just took a glance at the nice indoor pool.  We will definitely take advantage of this pool on our next visit when we have more time.  There is a nice barbecue and picnic area to be used in warm weather.  My cousin was impressed with the state of the art cardio and weight training equipment at the hotel fitness center.  Several times a week there is a manager's reception with complimentary lite dinners.

One of my cousin's friends had a fire in her house.  She stayed at this Residence Inn, for a couple of months until her house was put back together.  She told him, this hotel had complimentary dinners several times a week and was a great home away from home.

When we were leaving New Jersey, my wife asked me, "How come the bridges and tunnels between Jersey and its neighbors charge money to get out of Jersey, but let people in for free?"  I didn't know the answer, but there must be some kind of a hidden message there!
