Restonic Cloud/Enchantment; Instant SAG!
Written: Jan 14, 2008
Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Good store service, nice looking and comfortable (initially)
Cons:Poor quality, erratic customer service and warranty response.
The Bottom Line: Avoid Restonic, they have a strange corporate set up and the factories appear to be independent.
In January 07 we went shopping for a new bed, mattress and box spring. Purchased from American Home Store, Ft Wayne, In. Up front I will say the store has been helpfull in dealing with the problems. We initially bought a queen size Cloud with standard box spring. By September both sides of the mattress were sagging badly (other than Restonic's "mountain in the middle"). We approached the store with our problem and they didn't even question the problem. The person at the store they had problems with the Cloud due to faulty materials resulting from Hurricane Katrina! They ordered the direct replacement (per the Restonic rep) called an Enchantment. It arrived in mid October...and was 3" thicker than the Cloud. My partner is only 5'1" and needed a step stool to get into bed. I contacted the store and they said I needed a special "thin" box spring...they would check with the rep and let me know. About 8 days later they call me and tell me the new box spring will cost me a difference of 80.00! I explain I'm not paying anything because this is warranty and its less than a year old and supposedly equivalent. The store told me it was the reps decision, not theirs. I finally got in touch with Restonic customer service, and after several back and forth phone calls the agreed to absorb the 80.00. We got our new, 2 piece, thin box spring the beginning of November. Now, as of the end of December the new mattress has a 1/2' sag on one side an a 1" on the other; had to sleep in and if you roll over you're in danger of being dumped on the floor. After 3 weeks of working through the store, they told me today that they were going to come pick up the set and give a check for what I paid. When I mentioned I would like to buy a different brand of mattress from them the girl in so many words gave th impression they didn't want our business because we might not be happy with our new mattress! At this point I don't have check in hand and still have the set (this Thursday, supposedly), I'm holding my breath.
