| VSP's Full Review: Revlon Colorstay Lipliner |
I bought Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor in "Scarlet," because I wanted to be bold and buy a red shade of lipstick. Cindy Crawford was splashed all over the ad campaigns, which touted that the color really lasts. It lasts only in an impression that is unfavorable.
I wanted to try a red lipstick. Well, I didn't know how to wear red lipstick. And I don't look like Cindy and never will. But I figured, if it's in a slim tube, and looks great on the model, and it's being advertised as the greatest thing since sliced bread, it's worth a whirl.
This Colorstay lipstick is just terrible. It is not creamy at all, so it is difficult to apply. The consistency is extremely dry and chalky. Also, despite the natural ingredients it says it includes, such as Vitamin E and aloe, it is VERY drying to the lips. I mean, my lips were peeling! How awful! It was damaging my lips!
Also, the color bleeded to outside my lip line, requiring lip liner. If you read Epinion-er damino's review, she'll tell you the same thing.
The Scarlet shade itself was fine, the right shade of red I needed, but it didn't feel good wearing it. I'm definitely not buying it again.
I've been frugal with it: Instead of throwing it out, I've been applying an aloe lip base, then the Colorstay, then a lip liner, then lip gloss over it to give it shine and to protect my lips. I've been using it this way because I don't wear red lipstick often so I've been just using up what I have. It'll get me through the holiday season and winter, when I like to wear red clothes.
Well, Revlon has said bye-bye to Cindy. Hopefully it'll also say farewell and good riddance to Colorstay.
