I have tried many products from Revlon's "Colorstay" Line. When I saw Revlon Colorstay lipcolor I was hesitant to try it. I finally gave in when The local Giant had the color 50% off, and I had an added coupon. So I only ended up paying like 2.50 for the lipcolor. How bad could this lipcolor be for 2.50?
Revlon Colorstay lipcolor comes in a sleek long black tube. There are three gold rings towards the bottom of it. It's a great product to take around with you in your purse because I have never had the lid come off yet. There is a "color circle" on the bottom of the tube. The color is supposed to match the color of the lipstick, but I just don't see it. It looks a whole lot lighter to me. The cap comes off to reveal the color [that you choose]. The tip is slanted (not pointed) but good enough to apply. There are many colors to try.
When applying Revlon Colorstay lipcolor it feels like a nice and normal lipstick. It feels so soft and creamy. But wait- about a minute or two later Lips feel dry, and unable to rub together. It feels kind of like I got a thin layer of glue on my lips. It don't feel natural and it don't feel like my lips have lipstick on them, but more of a glue or substance. When the lips are licked the saliva will make the color pieces break off, and crack. It also tastes very chalky.
There is no really noticable taste to Revlon Colorstay lipcolor , besides that chalkyness described earlier, but that's not so bad. It only happens when you first lick your lips, after that you cannot even taste it. There is no smell to this lipstick either.
Revlon Colorstay lipcolor does last a long, long time! But that's if you don't constantly lick your lips. You got to leave it alone if you want it to stay intact. If you eat, or drink too much the color particals will break off leaving you with a colorstay lipstick on half your lips, and half your lips nothing. It will look really funny. I have also noticed if you apply too much of Revlon Colorstay lipcolor it will also flake off. Applying too much will also make the lipcolor smudge on your face or cheek, and if you do that It's so hard to get it off.
At first Revlon Colorstay lipcolor will "kiss" off. I noticed when I first apply it, and go get a drink I will notice a little ring of lipstick on my glass. The "Color stay" is marked not to "kiss" off, but it does! It happens if you apply to much. The color is supposed to sink in to the lips, and when too much is applied the color just sits on the top until it has a place to go, so don't apply too much, because the effect doesn't make it last longer, it just makes it messier!
I don't know if there is some kind of secret way of applying this lipstick so it works, and don't flake off, but if there is I definately have not found it yet! It always seems like the color stay lipsticks are the only ones that actually either stay on half your lips, or stay when and where you don't want them to stay. For example If I miss a part of my lips with this lipcolor, and get the lipstick on my cheek It takes for ever to come off! I have had problems removing this. After I have had some of the color come off, and I need to take the rest off, I tried to remove it, but all it does is flake [but only some pieces] so it ends up really hurting my lips, because I am having to scrub this lipcolor off. It's not worth it-
In conclusion, If you want a dry flaky lipcolor that *STAYS* when and where you don't want it to, this lipcolor is for you! But if you are one of the normal people who want a lipcolor that feels natural, stays all day long, doesn't flake or cake the you really need to try something else. This lipcolor drys and flakes, and I will never buy another one. I was really not pleased with this product one bit! I don't think I would buy another tube at 2.50, or even another tube for 1.00.
