Pros: Non-transferrable, good range of colors, best quality drugstore brand I've found
Cons: Drying, one of the most expensive drugstore brands, not a ton of color choices
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a non-transferrable lipcolor, Revlon Colorstay is a good drugstore choice. But I'm ready to pay more for department store quality now.

| bigskeptic's Full Review: Revlon Colorstay Lipliner |
I introduced myself to Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor a LONG time ago. Like when it first came out in the '90's. The idea of a non-transferrable, non-fading lipstick was just too good to be true. If you've read some of my other cosmetic reviews, you'll know I'm not a fan of reapplying makeup. Hey, I'm a busy woman. I need to look good but I can't spend all day in front of a mirror.
I got my first tubes of Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor at CVS. Suprisingly, even back then they had a decent variety to choose from. There's no way I can remember the color names, but one was a deep spice/nutmeg and the was a rich burgundy. My olive-tone skin has some yellow undertones, so I try to stay towards earthy colors.
These two, dark, rich colors actually stayed that when when applied. They both went on with a creamy finish that was easily applied. However, after waiting the required 60 seconds, both colors dried immensely. But, at least for me, they still "looked" ok. My lips didn't look cakey, the colors didn't feather or bleed. And most importantly, the color retained their true color. They didn't dry to some bizarre, flat or neon color that even a clown wouldn't wear.
The lasting power of Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor is amazing. You can smudge it if you rub your lips or something. And you will notice a slight transfer of color onto your drinking glass. But you will be impressed at how long lasting it really is.
The only downfall to this, was that I would find that naturally the inner portion of my lips would fade after a while. So I'd need to reapply there. Not too disappointed since this might only need doing after lunch. But I did find that reapplication takes some finesse. Because the outer portion of the lips are still fine, and there IS still some color on the inner portion, reapplying sometimes left me with wierd effects. Hard to describe. But I found it was usually best to wipe it all off and just start over. Again, since I only had to do this once a day, not a biggie.
Another thing to be aware of is removal. Of course, since it's staying power is so good, removal will be a little more difficult than regular formulas. To really get my lips cleaned, I had to use makeup remover directly on my lips.
While I enjoyed Revlon Colorstay Lipcolor for a while, I eventually tired of the drying. This is partially due to aging. My lips aren't in the same great shape they were in when I was 21.
