Pros: Large variety of color, stays where I put it, wears well
Cons: doesn't have any shine, feels dry on my lips
The Bottom Line: The COLORSTAY lip color is a product for life. I have enjoyed all of my regular activities, and my lips still look good.

I have only recent begun to wear makeup again. I am still experimenting, trying to find just the right brands of makeup that will suit my needs. I have chosen the MAC products because I like the way they look and feel. I especially like the way my MAC lipstick looks. I can honestly say it is the ONLY lipstick that I truly liked!!
That said, you may be asking WHY on Earth did I want to try another brand?!?!? The answer is my husband. My husband likes the way I look with makeup on, he hated how I reacted to kissing him with lipstick on!! While I thoroughly enjoy kissing my husband, I was hesitant with lipstick on. I didn’t enjoy seeing my husband with a nice coating of lipstick on his lips after every kiss!! Nor did I enjoy the fact that because he was now wearing my lipstick, I had to reapply it to MY lips!!
I have a phobia about buying makeup off the shelf. I am not good at knowing what color to try!! Since it has been more than a decade since I wore makeup frequently, I have no idea about what brands do what, or what they even offer! This in mind, I set out to find my own lipstick!
With this in mind, I went to the Navy Exchange in search of lipstick that won’t rub off. That was about 1 1/2 weeks ago. The first lipstick I brought home, was L’OREAL COLOUR ENDURE. I figured L’OREAL was a name I could trust!! I got into my van, and opened it up. While my husband finished with the kids, I put some on. Hmm, not a bad color!! I might really have liked this lipstick, except for one thing - it came off on EVERYTHING!! It came off on the straw of my cup, it kissed off onto my husband’s lips. This presented me with yet another problem. Unlike the MAC lipstick, the COLOUR ENDURE STAINS your lips. My husband’s lips were now CAMEO KISS color!!
I went home discouraged. I figured I would try this lipstick for a few days. Maybe it would work if I gave it a chance. In the back of my mind, I could remember seeing the REVLON COLORSTAY across the isle. I have no idea WHY I didn’t go with this one first!! I remember seeing the ads on t.v., done by Cindy Crawford. REVLON was another name that I knew. The REVLON was $.50 cheaper. Like I said, I really don’t know why I didn’t choose it FIRST!!
Well, I used the Cameo Kiss from L’OREAL for a few days, and it didn’t get any better! Yesterday, I made it back to the Navy Exchange. I made a beeline for the REVLON. I stared blankly at the colors for a few minutes, before choosing the GRAPE #23. I held onto my new find while we finished shopping. I didn’t want my kids to get it opened and destroyed before I had a chance to try it.
Once again, while my husband loaded up the kids, I smeared the REVLON COLORSTAY across my lips. I really liked the color. I turned to my husband and asked him what he thought. He said he liked it! So far so good. I picked up my cup that was in my cup holder, and took a drink. Upon careful inspection of my straw, I found no tell-tale signs that my lipstick had rubbed off!! This was looking good!!
Once my husband was settled into his seat, I decided it was time for the ultimate test!! THE KISS!! The kiss was long and passionate. I was really trying to do damage to my lipstick! A quick glance in the mirror, and at my husband’s lips told me my lipstick was exactly where I put it!
Okay, It didn’t come off on my straw, or my husband. How long would it last with me doing my normal stuff ? I licked my lips a lot, I ate, I even sneezed! There was no trace of lip color on my tissue, and after doing everything I do in a normal day, my lips still looked GOOD!!! I am impressed!!
I was so impressed, that we went across the bridge to another exchange, looking for boots for my husband. While I wondered with the kids, I couldn’t help but see if I might find another color I liked. This time, I chose SHELL # 02. My husband just laughed at me!! I guess I am pretty funny! A month ago, my collection of makeup was minimal. Now I have enough that it fills my part of our bathroom counter!! :-)
Unfortunately, I have some bad things to say about the REVLON COLORSTAY also. It goes on my lips VERY DRY! I don’t particularly like this!! I like my lips to feel smooth and silky. The COLORSTAY makes my lips feel like there is nothing there. While I find this to be something I don’t like, I guess I find myself also liking it!?!?! I am not conscious about my lips while wearing it!! Since my lips feel bare, I find myself licking them more! I will probably get used to the texture and feel eventually.
Another thing about this lipstick, is the way it looks. It doesn’t shine at all, and isn’t glossy! Other than the fact that my lips have color, it doesn’t look like I have lipstick on. Oh well, I guess it is a small price to pay to look good, and still be able to enjoy my life!
In closing, I will say this. Nothing competes with my MAC lipstick for look and feel! I will use it for times when I need to look great, and pictures. In the meantime, meaning my everyday life, I will be wearing the REVLON COLORSTAY LIPCOLOR
