Pros: Makeup stays put, goes on smoothly, inexpensive
Cons: Glass bottle
I'll be honest...I dislike liquid foundation with a passion. Why? I'm lucky enough to have one of the most super oily skins in the entire world. Seriously. I haven't tried liquid foundation since I was 18 and I'm 27 years old now. I actually came across Revlon Colorstay Makeup with Softflex while reading Paula Begoun's book and then checked out her website. Lo and behold, she had some tips for people with oily and/or super oily skin and she recommended Revlon Colorstay. I also read reviews on Epinions to find out what the experiences of others were and decided to take a chance on it and found out that it was discontinued. Revlon replaced it with the Colorstay Makeup with SoftFlex (a new formulation).
I had been using BareMinerals but since I had a bad breakout of acne during the winter (due to some horrible, horrible products), my cystic acne from long ago returned and BareMinerals could not cover it up and that's when I began for a foundation that would do what I needed it to do.
So, off I go to my local Target store in search of this product and bought it for $10.85. The next day was the perfect day to try it since I was going to go bike riding on the trails.
I used one of those wedge sponges (they do soak up more of the foundation but I didn't want my fingers all messy) and just dabbed it here and there. I really didn't use too much since the color I chose (Warm Golden) blended very nicely for me. The foundation went on smoothly (no dryness or even a hint of oil peaking through) and off I go. I was so sure that the foundation would slide off that I brought along my bag of BareMinerals makeup that I was currently using. Well, after about an hour and a half, (which nearly killed me since I desperately wanted to check my face but I wanted to wait until I got back in the car), I finally check the mirror and to my amazement, the foundation was still there. I was glistening a little bit on the forehead but otherwise, my foundation was still intact.
Revlon has three categories for their Colorstay foundation products: Makeup with Softflex for Combination/Oily Skin, Makeup with Softflex for Normal/Dry, and Active Light Makeup.
As stated on their website:
ColorStay? Makeup with SoftFlex? provides lightweight comfort, so you feel like you're not wearing makeup. Looks fresh for up to 16 hours.
There are a wide range of colors for each type of Colorstay foundation product. Here is the direct link:
Overall, I absolutely love it. Even after 8 hours, the makeup is STILL there and though the summers in Northern California are outrageously hot right now (heat wave just began this week), the makeup stays put. Oh, I glisten just a little bit but doesn't affect my makeup. It actually kind of gives me a glow. It's not too heavy nor too light, just in-between and that's how I like it. I would highly recommend this product if you have oily skin all-around because it honestly works! I've been using this product for 3 months now and am in love with it!
