| tiasmom's Full Review: Revlon Lipglide Color Gloss |
I can’t get over all the new makeup showing up on the shelves lately. It’s like everyone is trying to reinvent the lipstick. They all seem to be patterning themselves after youthful products like Bonne Belle with lots of glosses and unusual packaging. I’ve tried two of the latest lip glosses from Revlon, Skinlight Glosslights For Lips and LipGlide Color Gloss. I had not even heard of LipGlide until I came across it in a store. I have yet to see the product advertised anywhere. The glosses are very different from one another. Glosslights come in a small tube while LipGlide sort of resembles a marker, and while I like the idea of the sponge tipped applicator, the gloss could use improvement when it comes to texture and application.

Product Description
Revlon LipGlide is contained in tube that is nearly 5 inches long. As I said, the tube resembles a marker with the top portion covered by a clear cap. The color of the tube is nearly an exact match for the Cherry Ice color I have. Each tube will resemble or match the color contained within. There is .06 oz of product. The top has a slanted white plastic applicator that I at first thought was a sponge. Actually there does seem to be a tiny bit of spongy material just on the very end. The rest is just plastic with a series of holes on the surface. To get the gloss out of the tube it must be twisted up as if you are using regular lipstick. The color will then come through the small holes. It took many twists the first time to get the color flowing out. Since it was such a small amount it didn’t glide on evenly. It felt sort of sticky and dry and skipped in some places.
I have found, though, that after using it for a while the color starts to flow out more evenly. It still never really feels slick or slippery going on as you would expect with a gloss unless you wait until you have a lot of color coming through the holes. Even then it has a slight dryness about it while being applied. However, once applied it feels pretty soft on the lips, not thick and sticky.
There is no offensive odor. It does have a slightly sweet scent that is barely noticeable. Another positive quality is that there is no offensive taste.
Colors and Appearance
Keeping in mind that this lip color is difficult to find at the online cosmetic sites and that it is not even on the Revlon website, I have been able to come up with 20 colors of LipGlide. They are:
Clearly Glossy * Glistening Sand * Champagne Punch *Nude Slip * Glazed Almond * Mirrored Mocha * Rose Lacquer * Pink Lightening * Patent Leather Pink *Cherry Ice * Vibrant Violet * Lilac Luster *Berry Dazzling * Rum Radiance * Sparkling Sangria * Plum Lightening * Ruby Slippers * Apricot Glaze * Tangerine Ice *Fuchsia Flash
Some of them are very pretty and I wouldn’t mind trying them out. The Cherry Ice color I have is a bright red/orange similar to the color of poppies. They are iridescent, shimmery colors without really having a high gloss shine. I like the quality of the color because it has good pigment for a gloss. It isn’t too light and sheer. Actually it is a bit too heavy at times. Because of the way the color is applied it can sometimes look a little weird and uneven on the lips. I have looked in the mirror and thought is has at times resembled melted crayon applied to my lips. When that happens I blot it several times and am still left with plenty of color and shine. Unlike many glosses it can last through blotting. It’s not very transfer resistant because it tends to leave a mark on glasses or on straws. But a good stain of color remains for a long period of time. It lasts me for at least several hours even if the shine does fade before then.
Price and Availability
Revlon LipGlide can be purchased for around $7 to $8. Don’t expect to find it in every store that carries Revlon because it won’t always be available. But most drugstores and places like Wal*Mart are a good place to look. I got mine at the military exchange. I’m lucky because they always have the latest products and they are always less expensive than other stores. I paid closer to $5 for mine.
Bottom Line
I like the look of LipGlide and only wish it felt a little more moist when being applied. I would also prefer that it be a little more consistent and look even every time it is applied. Sometimes I get too much, sometimes I have to go over it a few times. But even so the end result is good and it’s a pretty decent lip color. I may or may not try it again in the future. There is always something new coming out and by the time I finish one product I have almost always replaced it with another.
