| cosmoandgunner's Full Review: Revlon Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast |
Want in on a little known secret? One that only my husband and OB/GYN know? Are you sure? Well, here goes - I ALWAYS keep my toenails painted red. ALWAYS. Why? I dont know. Why do I buy the same color makeup every time?(I know Moonsista thats just wrong isnt it?) Just to keep it simple I suppose. Before I stray too far, the point I was going to make was that when removing red polish, it never fails I always end up with pink stained skin. Then I have to go back and repeat the same removing motions with a new cotton ball just to unstain my skin. In addition to that, layers and layer of red polish take near a chisel and hammer to get though. After my then current bottle of nail polish remover ran out, I decided to stray from the traditional store brands of polish remover I usually buy and accidentally found Revlons Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast.
Price and Availability
While browsing the beauty section at Wal*Mart I found Revlons Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast. Luck would have it I also had a $2.00 off any Revlon product coupon. Its a sign right? At a pricey $2.50 a bottle I was getting out really cheap. I want to make a point to mention that this product was NOT with the other nail polish removers it was with the Revlon makeup. I see the idea behind it, keeping the brand all contained in one spot but I think from a selling stand point this is NOT a good idea for someone looking strictly for a polish remover. They would easily miss this product.
Appearance
Revlons Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast is in a translucent 8 oz bottle with a white screw on line and black lettering. Simple appearance. There were 3 choices and in this one in particular, the remover is yellow in color. The clincher for me was a few key words on the face of the bottle: Professional. High-Speed Action. Instant Results. Extra Fast. Thats how I like it. Polish remover of coarse. Moving on.
My Experience
That evening even though I didnt need to I removed the red polish from my toes. My first impression was WOW! This stuff REALLY works! I was pretty amazed. The polish didnt POOF disappear, or anything but I didnt have to do a lot of scrubbing to remove it. Maybe 1 or 2 swipes and the nail was clear. I managed to get though five entire toes before having to reload another cotton ball. I also noticed that I didnt have that left over polish I usually have to fight with around the edges. Impressive. I was so impressed I asked my mother to try it. She, not the red wearing kind of gal, said that while it was a good remover, she didnt think it was any better or worse that the Cutex. I still beg to differ. In my experience I have had significantly less skin staining and my cotton balls have lasted twice as long as usual. I do have to admit that while removing less provocative colors I wasnt blown away, but to back myself up, red just runs everywhere with shoddier removers.
Another thing I was hoping to find in Revlons Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast was a remover that immediately removed the glitter in the sparkly type polishes. My skin crawls when cotton gets caught on the glitter and drags across my nail. Like biting down on yarn. ICK! I dont even want to talk about it anymore. While it does remove the polish pretty fast its still not a glitter pulverizer.
On the downside, I have noticed that Revlons Nail Enamel Remover Extra Fast does dry out my nails if I use it repeatedly. I have times that I get on kick and paint my fingernails a couple a times week (different colors) for what ever reason. Using this remover this often did dry my nails out. I asked a friend of mine that is a nail tech about the drying and she said that Polish removers that contain acetone, as this one does, DO dry out nails and cuticles. However, that very chemical is what makes a remover remove polish quickly. Catch 22. So its just dependent on how patient you are and how many cotton balls you want to waste.
Just for grins the ingredients list fragrance. If there is a fragrance that is called smells like a nail salons polish remover, then Revlon hit their target. Otherwise it does not have any appealing scent and it is somewhat strong.
Overall
I will continue to buy this product. For me it works, its fast and I really like it. Enough said.
Thank you Shantel575 for adding this product to the data base.
Other Stuff
BY the way the back of the bottle does say For artificial nails, test first; wipe gently. something to consider for those of you with fakies.
