| shushi's Full Review: Ricoh Aficio 450e Black and White Copier |
We are a small office that does roughly 15,000 - 20,000 copies/printouts per month. This review is for the following setup:
Ricoh Aficio 450e
DF67 Document Feeder
SR720 Finisher (stapler/sorter)
Print Server Option
Plus all components necessary to work
Total price including accessories was $14,000
We've hit out first 35,000 copies, and so far the machine has jammed only ONCE (our fault -- a user had over stuffed the paper bin with 100 pages over the limit).
Previously we had a tiny Xerox copier (Toner cartridges were extremely expensive), and sending out copies at a rate of 3.5 cents per page.
Printing is done via 3 different HP4050 printers (great printers by the way). At 45 pages per minute, we decided to use the copier as a printer also.
Copies are consistent, and the user display is fairly straightforward (you can pretty much walk up to the machine and know what you are doing).
Setting it up for use as a printer was fairly straightforward (we are running Windows 2000/98/95/NT -- not one problem).
One issue is that the price (with all options) was slightly higher than some competitors that had similar features (Panasoic FDP series, Xerox Docucenter series). The reason we chose this copier was the enormous amount of complaints about Xerox copiers paper jamming and the fairly new entrance of Panasonic into the copier market.
Since this also acts like a printer, I would have liked to see some form of an envelope feeder...
