Pros:Good dust collection, no snipe
Cons:Can't think of any!
The Bottom Line: For a thirteen inch portable planer, you can't buy a better one than Rigid
My wife picked this planer for me on her own, and she could not have done any better! The guys at Home Depot must have liked her, cuz she got the stand for free (or maybe everyone does!)

This planer comes with extra knives, for a total of four sets since they are reversible. Also has excellent dust collection as stated earlier.
One thing I noticed right away on this planer is the lack of end snipe, or cupped areas on the ends of your stock where the cutterhead cuts too deep. The cutter head lock feature virtually eliminates all snipe, provided the tables are set correctly, which mine were from the factory.
A second great feature not present on other planers is the repeat-a-cut lever on the side, which will only allow the cutter head to drop to a set height, allowing you to achieve repeatable thicknesses, even if you have to raise the cutterhead between planing jobs. The settings are for common thicknesses, such as 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4. This is a great feature on this planer.
All in all, I use this tool a fair amount and have had no problems. I worry a little about Rigid service, but only because I've never dealt with them, and probably won't have to with this tool! This tool proves brand loyalty might not always be the way to go! I have a Jet bandsaw, Delta tablesaw, Hitachi miter saw, Porter Cable router, Rigid planer, and off brand 6 inch jointer, so my shop is a mish mash, but I love every tool I keep!
