| pilot1022's Full Review: Ridgid Oscillating Belt and Spindle Sander EB4424 |
I needed a spindle sander to complete a couple of chairs I am making, also I was not to happy with my Delta belt and disk sander. After some price comparison and reading reviews on the Ridgid and talking to owners of this tool, I decided to purchase it. Now I will say this I am not a big fan of buying tools at the big box stores, but for the price I could not turn it down. As it came out of the box the instructions for assembly were good and understandable, and in about one hour it was ready for a test run. I liked the storage areas for the sanding sleeves, throat plates and washers. Even a storage area for the belt sander assembly and the hex keys. I checked the square of the front table and the alignment of the belt to the miter gauge slot, both were dead on. The operation of the unit was fairly smooth and quite. In using this machine in my project it preformed well with no problems or surprises. The belt tracking was good and I had no problems keeping the belt in proper position. Replacement belts and sleeves are of common size and most woodworking retailers have them. The only concern is the small dust collection port, 2-1/2 inch, which means you will have to keep a closer eye on the dust build up. This tool is a keeper.
