Finding myself in need a new shop vac, and knowing how well the Ridgid vacuums perform, I was shocked to find the WD1245 on sale at Home Depot for $29.95, so I picked one up. I had intended to pay up to $100 for a new shop vac.

I immediately put it thought some testing around the house. This vac was awesome at sucking up the accumulated dirt by the baseboards of our carpeted rooms. I was vacuuming my computer and was amazed at the long strings of dirt it was pulling out of every orifice. I even tried it to suck the cold ashes from the fire place, which it did fine, but did blow a fine layer of dust out of the blower outlet, but this was my fault, the instructions clearly advised that a smaller filter would be required to prevent dust coming out of the blower. Ridgid sells three different filters, the optional filter are all HEPA, but the filter included with the WD 1245 does a great job and can be cleaned and reused.

The WD 1245 has many features not expected at this price point; two piece wand, 3 nozzles, nice long 15 ft cord, a locking hose they call the "tug-a-long" that allows you to lead the vacuum around buy the hose, and the latching mechanism won't allow the hose to become disconnected! Even has a nice plastic drain in the drum. Speaking of the drum, this unit has a nice smooth surface inside that will not trap dirt in recesses. All this with a lifetime warranty!

I feel like buying two of these, the value was that outstanding!

At normal list price of $69.95, this vacuum is a high quality unit that won't disappoint. Plenty of suction, well made, lots of convenience
