If you have read any of my recent reviews you might know that we recently moved cross country and in to a new house. Well, there are still boxes stacked up everywhere and I swear, if I have to wax one more piece of hardwood floor or dust another bookshelf I will lose what little of my sanity I have left. And at this stage in the game, Im clinging to that by a thread. My youngest was the one that was most thrilled about the trip, not only would we be moving to a new house but wed be traveling by train. Yes indeed, he had the grand adventure all mapped out for use before we even had the tickets in our hands. I knew that this would involve a lot of fast food, limited bathroom facilities and a lot of dirt along the way so I asked my pharmacist if he knew of a good antibacterial wipe that I could take with me to clean off toilet seats, clean our hands and use on pay phones. That might sound a little excessive but in hindsight, and after seeing the places that we stopped, I was right on par with being worried about germs.
Rite Aid Antibacterial Disposable Towelettes
If you have ever eaten at a rib joint or place that serves messy foods and the server gave you a wet nap [wet napkin] or hand wipe then you will be familiar with this product. Most of the ones that are handed out in restaurants dont have a germ fighting ingredient but are there just to wipe away the sauce. These contain benzalkonium chloride, germ killer, along with the usual cleaning ingredients to get dirt off your hands and other body parts. I was really surprised that these worked as well as they did and was equally amazed at the size when I started to unfold them. Most wipes are so small that you need to use a few of them to remove dirt and grime from your hands; these fold out to five by seven inches and are more than sturdy enough to get the job done.
Another great perk to these is that they are individually sealed; I was worried that my son might have some trouble opening the packets but after I showed him once he had no issues with the packet. The packets are pretty sturdy and so far none of them have accidentally ripped open in my backpack or while we were traveling. They are moist enough to get the dirt off your hands and clean them but not so wet that you are left looking for something to dry them off with. In the past I tried the Target brand of wipes and they were good but they didnt fold out to the five by seven size and I needed to use several of them to really get my hands clean. You should try to avoid using these on smaller children that tend to put their fingers in their mouths; some of the ingredients might be too strong for their skin and you certainly wouldnt want them ingesting any of the ingredients.
When I told my pharmacist that I was moving he suggested the Rite Aid Antibacterial Disposable Towelettes instead of regular hand wipes or baby wipes. He said that no disposable wipe would kill off every germ but for what we would be encountering on our trip, these would be more than effective at cutting down on common germs wed find in restrooms and on the train. I didnt think that I would have a need for 48 of them so I tried to find a smaller box but it seems that this is the smallest box that they sell. Trust me, if you think you wont go through 48 of them or its a waste to plunk down two dollars on them check out a public toilet at a train station and tell me whether youd want to do your business there without first wiping down a few areas with a wipe first. I went through more than half of them on the trip and the rest of them when I started cleaning and unpacking. Im now on my third box and wouldnt travel or think of leaving the house without a few of these with me.
The Specs
You get 48 individually sealed wipes per box and you can pick these up for around two dollars at your local Rite Aid store or online through Drugstore.com. These can be used to clean hands or other body parts but you should never use these on an open wound or as a first aid item. Do not use in or around the eye or to remove make up from around your eye. Also, if you have a burn or open sore, do not use this on or around it or you will scream like a banshee [the denatured alcohol alone will be enough to put you through the roof]. If you have sensitive skin you might want to use this only as a last resort. As I mentioned, this contains denatured alcohol, which could inflame sensitive areas or dry skin out. There is a slight smell to the wipes but nothing that I found over powering or obnoxious, but thats just me, you might try these and really hate them. If thats the case then return them to the store where you purchased them for a refund or exchange for another product.
The Bottom Line
I used these on everything from toilet seats to public pay phone receivers and never had a problem with them. They removed dirt from my hands and arms while traveling and were a complete godsend when I arrived at the new house and started cleaning. As an added perk, they were also great on my leather boots to remove scuffs but I wouldnt use these all the time in that manner or you run the risk of ruining the sheen of the material. For about two dollars a box I wouldnt hesitate to pick these up again. I plan on having some in the first aid kit, in my knapsack and in my vehicle to use when the need arises. If you are out and about during the day, are worried about germs or just like to have clean hands, check out Rite Aids Antibacterial Disposable Towelettes! They come with a money back guarantee if you arent satisfied with how they work they will refund your money or offer you a replacement with no questions asked.
As always, thanks for the read!
