Over the years we have visited several Ritz properties around the world. We recently (Sept 2006) spent 3 nights at the Key Biscayne Ritz. While the overall stay was pleasant, it was not at the customary Ritz level, more like a 3-4 star Hilton or Sheraton. Some examples:
1. Beach umbrellas extra - not pleasant to be "nickeled and dimed" for a beach umbrella.
2. One particular day they ran out of beach and pool chairs, and guests had to sit on towels on the ground
3. Took 4 hours to have a coffee-maker delivered to the room, with no coffee!
4. Valet service extra, but also very slow
5. Tennis center staff were curt and almost rude.
6. After a rainy period they did not towel off or dry the pool chairs which were therefore unusable, and beach chairs were locked-up and we were told that the person with the key had left for the day. Strange...

We will give this particular Ritz, a skip next time.
