Pros: Cooks well
Cons: Unsafe. Handles break.
Have a Rival Model 5865. Handles have both broken. One when trying to pick it up and the other when putting it away (cool) after use. I have seen that Rival has a recall on some of their crockpots but not this one. This seems to have the same issues as all the others. Worse, I am not the least encouraged by the many comments about non-responsive Rival Customer Service, lost returns, no tracking, etc. Am going out today to purchase another slow cooker but it will not be a Rival Product. I also had the lid handle come off but was able to "gorilla glue" it back to make the unit useful. Unfortunately, fear of having hot contents in my lap makes it imperative that I get one I can trust. That apparently is not a Rival. The crock itself has developed a crack on the outside that as of now has not gone all the way to the inside (so I guess that makes it techinically not a crack.
My parents bought a Rival Crockpot at Wal-Mart and the lid was so poorly fit that it had a 1/8" gap around the lid. Not much value that way.
To sum it up, Rival Crock pots are just a crock.
