When we embarked on our vegan diet I wondered what would become of big weekend breakfasts. I needn't have worried as we quickly found some delicious pancake and French toast recipes. Our only problem was cooking them on our old non-stick pans. Instead of more pans, we decided to go with a grill. We chose the Rival GR225 Indoor Grill.

What You Get
The Rival GR255 Indoor Grill features a 10" X 20" smooth, non-stick cooking surface. The grill plate is removable and can be washed in the dishwasher. A dial allows you to adjust the griddle temperature 300 to 400 degrees F. A grease tray under the tray will collect any run-off through a small slit in the bottom of the grill plate.
Looking at the Rival GR225 Indoor Grill as a basic appliance, we are pleased with its performance over the last 3 months. We use it for cooking homemade veggies burgers, pancakes and French toast. I've had no trouble with anything sticking despite the fact that we use no oil or non-stick spray of any kind. I do wait until the first side of whatever I am cooking is fully cooked before flipping and this seems to completely eliminate any sticking issues. Clean up is amazingly easy. Once the grill has cooled enough to handle I lay it in the sink and use my sprayer to remove any food left on the grill plate, usually pancake batter drips on the edge. I then take a quick swipe at the plate with a sponge, dry it off and it is ready for the next meal. I can cook 8 items at a time, which is a reasonable amount for my family of 5. I use the grill two or three times a week.
Of course, not everything is perfect. I have found two cool spots on the grill surface; food in those spots takes a little longer to cook. I make sure I pour batter and place burgers on those two spots first and that seems to even out the cooking time. I also have not found a way to fit the grill into my dishwasher. I was quite disappointed at first, since that is the feature that made me choose the Rival GR225 Indoor Grill in the first place. Since the grill cleans up so easily in the sink I no longer care that it won't fit in my dishwasher. The grill isn't easy to store with overall dimensions of 12" X 24". I cleared a spot in my dining room buffet since I do not have the counter space to keep the grill out.
Although the grill plate does not fit in my dishwasher, the removable plate does make clean up in the sink quick and easy. There are some cooler spots, but 350 degrees seems to be a good setting for all of my cooking needs. Storage may be an issue, but that is the trade-off for being able to cook 8 burgers at once.
The Rival GR255 grill died unexpectedly at home surround by uncooked pancake batter and hungry children. While several attempts were made to revive the grill, his heat source gave out and his body was cold. A transplant was attempted but a compatible electric element donor could not be found. Although he was only one when he died, it was a wonderful life with a family who loved him. Rivall GR225 was dedicated to his profession and proud to help serve his family pancakes, burgers and French toast whenever he was asked. He was buried in the local landfill in a private ceremony.
