For almost a week now, I have been battling a cold/flu-like symptoms. I have had a fever, congestion, nose running, body aching, stomach upset, vomiting and everything else that makes you sick. I had been stubborn at first not taking anything to relieve my needs, thinking it would just pass through and go away. But it has decided to make a stake on me and that is when I had to get medicine. I have been using Vicks VapoRub to help me sleep through the night and Robitussin FLU to make it through the day.
Robitussin flu caught my eye with the big purple/magenta letters F-L-U on the top of the box. Below it promised to help with:
1. Headaches or Body Aches

3. Clearing Nasal Congestion
4. Controls Runny Nose/Sneezing

Robitussin FLU is ALCOHOL Free and can be used with children and adults. I bought the 4 fl oz for $4.27 on sale, regularly closer to $5.00.

When you take Robitussin FLU you need to use as directed and not go over the recommended dosage. Drowsiness may occur so you need to be careful if you are sick and driving. Any alcohol should be avoided when taking Robitussin FLU. In children especially, excitability may occur. If you have heart disease, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, chronic coughing, trouble urinating from enlarged prostate, or cough with lots of phlegm, then you need to talk to your doctor before taking Robitussin FLU. If you are taking prescription medications, you should check with your doctor before taking.
Robitussin FLU is supposed to relieve your fever, aches, itching in the throat, nasal congestion, cough, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and sore throat. It does temporarily relieve you of these symptoms, for about 2-3 hours. After that point, you have an hour or so wait before you can take your next dosage and you are out of luck. The taste and smell of the FLU medicine reminds me of liquid bubblegum. It doesn't taste bad at all. It did soothe my throat when going down.
There are four other Robitussin liquid medications that can be taken as well. So you have your fair choice of what is right for you. The dosage cup is provided so that you can take an accurate amount of Robitussin FLU although for an adult you go through the bottle pretty quickly with 4 teaspoons every 4 hours. I didn't opt to buy another bottle when I was done but changed to something else that better fit my needs as my progression got better.
I will say that Robitussin FLU seemed to do the trick for some relief and that is why I would recommend it. It didn't completely get rid of my cold/flu symptoms but it seemed to be helpful part of the time. At that point I would have taken anything to make myself feel better. I started writing this review a week ago and had to stop since I was still sick. I am finally feeling close to being back to my old self.
Robitussin FLU is a little sugary which is why I think they warn about excitability in children. It didn't make me drosy even though I am taking other prescription medications. It didn't seem to change my mood at all. I was pleased with the results even though they weren't long term. For the couple of days, it did a better job than others I had tried previously. For that reason I recommend Robitussin FLU if you feel you need it.
Until next time,
