The Bottom Line: Waste of time and money. Impossible to store if you live in an apartment. Smells up the house something awful. Oven would work just as well.
This is the equivalent of a toy I had when I was a kid; the Suzy Homemaker E-Z Bake Oven, which was powered with a small LIGHT BULB. I have since learned that a good dehydrator contains a CONVECTION fan which this machine does NOT. Therefore, you can spend time and money slicing up a thousand little pieces and a day later, the results are only partial. You have to keep re-arranging and turning the trays, but even so, the fruit and veg slices never completely dried. Once again, I have purchased a cheap appliance that looks great but does a crummy job.
You could get the same results in a low-heat oven without having to store this bulky thing. Forget it if you live in an apartment, you'll be storing on your fire escape. The WORST thing is that your house will REEK for days! One onion made my house unbearably awful for 2 days. At least your oven would contain the odor. I feel like such a jerk for buying this. I've wanted one for years and now realize I could have just used the oven. Don't waste your money, time and stink up your house! I love my Ronco Rotisserie and they make some great products but this isn't one of them.
