| bmelter's Full Review: iRobot Roomba 3000 Robotic Vacuum |
I have had the Roomba for a few weeks now and must say that I am very impressed with it.
Cleaning Ability
The Roomba does a very good job in grabbing/sweeping all of the things you can see on your carpet. While deep cleaning with a real power vacuum is recommended, the Roomba is great for the light touch ups needed on a constant basis. It does a great job on carpeting as well as hardwood floors. The carpets do get a bit of a "crop circle" effect where the Roomba starts when it goes in concentric circles. Overall, it does a very good job although the particle bin is a bit on the smallish side.
Battery Life/Charging
Battery life is great. I got about 50-70 minutes out of my battery which is plenty for a couple rooms. Take my advice and buy the rapid charger. If you plan on using your Roomba more than once per day, buy the rapid charger which charges the battery in about 2 hours. Otherwise, you will need to wait a full 12 hours for the battery to recharge. You may also want to buy a second battery as well.
Durability
Overall, nothing has broken and the Roomba seems solid as it navigates around the rooms. It senses it virtual wall and stays back from those areas. It also has some clever logic to spin around things like table legs, etc. Overall, durability has proven to be very good.
