| mycomments's Full Review: Rose Court Hotel |
A friend and I stayed at "The Rose Court Hotel" in Central London, for 1 night in February 2003, booking with lastminute.com for $80.
The hotel was in a very good location, being only a 5 minute walk to Hyde Park, Marble Arch and the madness of Oxford Street.
The hotel was on a quiet street, away from the traffic noise of the main road.
Transport to the hotel is plentiful, with Marble Arch tube station nearby and numerous buses.
Breakfast was included in the price, which I wasn't particularly looking for, but it was a nice added bonus. We had a traditional English breakfast (juice, tea, eggs, bacon, toast, sausages...).
Upon arrival, the hotel looked nice from the outside but once inside we were met with low dingy lighting and the receptionist chilling out and smoking in the very small communal area (comprising of 1 sofa and a small TV). The hotel was tidy and very clean, also quiet, with no noise from the hallways coming through to the room.
There was a lock-in policy which was a little annoying, but we did know this at the time of booking.
The staircase was very grand (surprisingly), the hallways were small but nicely carpeted, although creeky in some places.
We had a double room on the 1st floor, which was small and basic but very clean. We a double bed, a TV and a small table with a chair. The bathroom was also small and basic, but with toiletries provided. We had a large window which overlooked across the street.
All in all the room had everything we needed for a 1 night stay, a no frills hotel.
The receptionist (a different one) was very helpful and polite when we asked for a bottle opener and checking in (and out) was extremely quick.
It's not a hotel I would want to stay with for longer than 1 night due to the lack of any on-site amenities.
