MrsThomas's Full Review: Roundup Concentrate Weed and Grass Killer: Roundup...
I planted a beautiful flower garden this past spring, and I had a terrible weed problem. Weeds started popping up everywhere. I tried weeding by hand and after one week of this I decided I needed some weed killer. I went to K-Mart and in the Garden Department I found Round-Up Weed and Grass Killer.
I didn't want to kill the grass, but after reading the directions, I decided it didn't seem too hard. So I made the purchase and brought it home. The only other weed killers in stock at K-Mart were also weed and grass killers. They didn't have any products that were just for weeds.
I waited for a day that seemed calm; no wind and no rain. I followed the directions on the container and mixed the concentrate in a sprayer. I proceeded to spray. I sprayed all the weeds just like the directions said. I sprayed the leaves of the weeds, making sure they got wet, but not dripping wet. I was very careful in making sure I didn't overspray. Every now and then a slight breeze stirred and each time, I stopped spraying until the breeze died down.
The directions say that weed wilting and yellowing start in a few hours and complete kill takes 1 to 2 weeks. The next day, I went outside and some of the weeds had started to wilt. So did some of my flowers. 2 days later some of the weeds started turning yellow and so did some of my grass.
By the end of two weeks some of my grass was dead, some of my flowers were dead, and only some of the weeds were dead.
There were some weedy vines that were on the fence. I had sprayed them. Most of the weedy vines were still there, green as ever, but all of the grass underneath the vines was dead!! VERY dead. I resprayed the vines. I wasn't afraid of the overspray this time, as the grass under the vines was already dead. The weedy vines are still on the fence. They flowered a couple of weeks ago. And, I'm still weeding the flower garden by hand, even though there aren't too many flowers left.
