ironman2009's Full Review: Rowenta DZ9080 Iron with Auto Shut-off
I spent the crazy money for a, what I thought, was a top-of-the-line iron (DZ9080). The first one basically quit one day. The heating element would not even brown toast. That caused a rain shower on my clothes. I exchanged it for a new one hoping I got a lemon. Well, this morning was number two. Same thing, same aggravation. I would never buy this iron again. Six months of use for well over $100 is insane. Time to go exchange this one for a third and cross my fingers. The glide plate on this iron is very strong and few things will stick to it, although beware of graphics on t-shirts. This iron can get hotter than any other I've ever used. This iron, with 1800W power can go from 0-60 per se in about 12 seconds. When it worked, it was very convenient. This thing can iron out permanent press creases if need be. The 400 holes of steam mean you get a huge burst of steam all over, not just two lines down the middle. While we did experience some sediment at the beginning of use from time-to-time, we just brushed it off and pressed on. I have to say though, for the cost and supposed quality of Rowenta, two failing, high-end models in sex months each is severely disappointing. Maybe I got unlucky again with a bad model, but I feel more like the victim of poor quality control and quality overall. I would never buy another Rowenta product because of this example of their poor reliability.
