Pros: Burst of steam Large water reservoir Fine point excellent for pressing quilt pieces
Cons: Water leakage Burst of steam button sticks
The Bottom Line: My recommendation is not to purchase this iron. $100 is a lot of money to sock down for an appliance that only worked well for ten months.
gigigray's Full Review: Rowenta Professional DX8900 Iron
When you read the reviews that say this iron leaks water, believe them. Honestly! the thing leaks water every time I turn it on. And despite what the Rowenta website says about leakage, water is NOT coming from the soleplate... it leaks from every other conceivable place. Never again will I purchase a Rowenta product. I used the iron for ten months before it began leaking and loved it to that point, but then the leakage left water spots all over my custom ironing board cover and I'm not a happy camper. To say nothing of the fact that I now have to find a box and ship it to Florida. Rowenta says they will fix or replace the iron, but in the meantime I have to borrow an iron since I use one every day. I like the heavy weight of the iron which is one reason that I bought it. I do sew everyday (piece quilt tops) so an iron that I am comfortable with is very important. Before this iron I had a very old Black and Decker that was a workhorse. Had this iron not failed in ten months, I would have called it a workhorse as well.
