| eswope's Full Review: Roy's Seattle |
Roy is one of the leaders in Pacific Rim cuisine and a true innovator. Unfortunately, his Seattle restaurant does not offer the variety of his original Honolulu restaurant. What they both share is an atmosphere unbefitting this type of (upscale) restaurant. His Honlulu restaurant is small, crowded & noisy. His Seattle restaurant Huge and impersonal feeling. The service, however, is not. It is top notch as is the food.
We were "accidental" visitors to the Roy's in seattle, as it is the restaurant for the Westin downtown. They offer a surprisingly good deal for breakfast, with a reasonably priced buffet as well as elegant and affordable ala carte items. The food is fresh, nicely presented and always top quality. For many, who are not familiar with Roy's or Pacific Rim cuisine, it is also unique.
Roy designs the menu and trains the chefs at each of his restaurants, so they do not feel like a franchise or chain. The high quality is maintained throughout. I have visited several of his restaurants, and the quality is consistant and predictable. This makes Roy's a good bet. If you don't live in the islands or visit frequently, it is also a unique dining experience.

Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations Excellent quality, nice presentation, great service, reasonable prices. Reknown for his innovative dim sum and pupus. Try sampling several small dishes.
