| rngpie's Full Review: Rubbermaid Palletote plastic storage box 1-5/8 cu.... |
I worked part time one summer at an very upscale children's clothing cosignment store and got to see first hand what "too many clothes" meant.
The owner accepted clothing year round, and if it were not the correct season, she would still accept the clothing, provided it met her requirements which were stain free, all buttons ect.
While we girls listed the items and priced them, Pat would go to Wal-Mart and bring in more of the Rubbermaid Palletote, Plastic Storage Box 1-5/8 cu ft capacity 15-1/2x19-1/2x13h.
I soon fell in love with the Rubbermaid Totes for many reasons.
The most obvious reason to me was this particular storage unit has built in hand grips on the side and even with the lid on, I could still use the hand grips.
Unlike the cheaper versions, when I carried a Rubbermaid, I knew I would make it to storage, at the top of the stairs, and place the tote in it's spot without one side slipping out of my hands from too narrow handgrips.
Another good thing for us, the totes stacked really well. Once the lid was in place, we could stack 3-5 totes, one on top of another, with no worry of the bottom tote's sides caving in, or the lids bending at odd angles, making them impossible to use again.
The totes are very well made. We have had totes fall down a flight of steps, over packed them, transported them numerous times, left them in the rain and sun...and yet, these totes maintain both thier color and shape, and their sturdiness.
We had tried similar feats with cheaper models such as them fallling down the steps, and watched the cheaper ones break off. Cheap plastic does not take push and shove very good.
Rubbermaid Totes are a very giving plastic. We could squish them in a truckbed, and the plastic would give so that we could squish in more, or pile things on top. The cheaper versions just cracked and split.
And the best thing of all, these totes hold alot of stuff. I do mean alot!! We have put as many as 50-75 pieces of folded clothing in one tub before.
I can't forget to mention the lids. The lids snap on and off easily. And when the lids are not on, the tubs stack inside each other for more storage room as well.
All in all, when it comes to storage problems, Rubbermaid has this beat with their Rubbermaid Palletote plastic storage box 1-5/8 cu ft capacity, 15-1/2 x19-1/2 13h .
Incidentally, Pat has had some of her totes for over 5 years and they are still as good looking and as sturdy as the newer ones.
