Being in the lawn and garden business of a major home improvement center and also being a horticulturist, I know very well the benefits of "all natural" gardening, also known as organic gardening.

People don't know about composting and how reusable kitchen trash is or the benefits it can have. For one thing, composting saves you time and lots.....LOTS of money. Composting can be done any time of the year and in any state.
Composting is simply the act of speeding up decomposition of yard matter. Rubbermaid composters supply plenty of air which is necessary. Also Rubbermaid composters have double thick walls which aid in raising the temperature inside the hopper. High heat is what speeds up the "rotting" so to speak. Also when you raise the temperature inside the compost pile, you burn off any weed seeds that were mixed with your grass clippings. And if you have ever tried to make good compost and didn't have the right unit, then you know how long it can take to get good compost.
I was very pleased to see the Rubbermaid yard composter come into my place of employment. I had another kind at my home but it was pretty cheezy. But when I saw the Rubbermaid model, I fell instantly in love with it.
My composter is my best friend when it comes to my garden. It's very light weight, requires no tools when assembling and it's easy to put together. And the best thing about it is it's just under $80.00 which you will get back in less than one season. And it's 18 cubic foot of double thick, re-enforced plastic. The design makes it better to keep the heat up inside, which is essential in making compost.
Every day I put something in my Rubbermaid yard composter. Weather it's coffee grounds, salad greens or left overs, egg shells, tea bags, banana peels, apples and of course yard clippings. Anything can be used in the Rubbermaid yard composter. ( I don't recommend any types of meats as that can and will attract animals.) Not that any animals can get inside but it's just best not to use any types of meats as compost.
In the winter months I usually go to the marina and help myself to some of that sea weed that always washes up on the ramps. Most marina's will let you take what you want because sea weed makes a mess and can clog up some engines. Wash the salt off the sea weed, put it in your composter then sit back and watch all that turn into gold for your yard and garden.
You can compost for a garden, around trees and shrubs and also as mulch. In a short time you will have natural, organic fertilizer and all your neighbors will wonder how you got such a green thumb. Or better yet, how come your stuff is better than theirs.
I highly recommend my Rubbermaid yard composter. It makes a great gift and easy to use, even children can get into the act and help with composting. I love mine and I know you will love yours too, and the results you'll get.
