Pros: Well balanced, light weight, and long battery life for most any yard.
Cons: Cumbersome on and off; lock position switch.
I have enough equipment that requires gas and oil here on the farm. I like to keep about an acre manicured and cleaned around the two houses, and let the rest go to the Bush-Hog. When I saw this RYOBI 155r in the lawn and garden section of LOWE'S, I though I would give it a try.
A quick review of the outer box description, i.e., 12 volts Rechargeable DC Power and a 10 Inch Cutting Path Perimeter, all for right at one hundred dollars, I had to react.
I got home and put the battery to an over night charge and the next morning went to work. I used the RYOBI around trees, side walks, and the fence line. I have to say that I was very impressed with the cutting strength and lasting power of the battery. I was worried that I would cut for ten minutes or so, and have to recharge the battery. As it turned out, I trimmed around both houses which took 30-40 minutes and did not run out of battery power. Also, the light weight aluminum extension tube made the RYOBI easy to maneuver, allowing me to last as well.
It is nice not having to stop, to mix oil and gas. I go into the utility room when I am finished and hang the 155r on the wall which is a built in charging unit.
