This drill is very powerful, and the top speed is phenomenal for screwing and unscrewing. I feel like a Indy Pit mechanic changing bolts on a tire when I use this thing. I haven't had a chance to drill with this model, but i did do a lot of drilling with the 9.6v version, and that version had plenty of power. A couple of times when drilling in half inch almuinum, the bit would catch and intead of the drill bogging down, it would literally twist my arm around from the power, so figure that this drill will have enough torque. The only concern that i have with this drill is that even the lowest speed is pretty fast. Sometimes I will strip a screw when reversing at the lowest speed. Also the weight may be a problem for some people. Therefore i cannot recommend this drill for a hobbyist or for a housewife. It is better suited for a serious handyman or even professional use. With that said, i think i should state some of the reasons why i love this drill. First, the best feature by far is the keyless chuck. After using this feature, i could never go back. Next, the torque setting are very helpful for screwing. You can just set the torque and then drill screws in as fast as you want, you'll never mess it up. Finally, the battery's on this thing are sufficient. I bought my drill used and one of the batteries was bad, so i have been using just one battery pack, and i have never had it run out. It can be recharged in three hours, so it's fully charged every time i use it. Unless you plan on using it very heavily, thereis no need to get 2 battery packs.
