Pros:Good overall home tool.
Cons:Can't reach the side button lock feature well
The Bottom Line: A good basic machine that stands up.
I've had this little baby for a couple of few years. I really do not remember exactly how long. It is my household drill that performs all I need around the house with plenty of power and it is easy to change bits with the keyless chuck.

This is the only Ryobi tool I have ever owned and I am very happy with it.
The Power Cord
The drill is variable speed of 0-1300rpm which is more speed than is needed for any household projects I know of. It pulls 3.0 Amps. I like that it has a power cord that is about 10' long and that the machine is double insulated. That is plenty of length for most projects in my home. You have just two prongs on this so you don't have to have a three pronged grounded extension cord or outlet. The power cord also has a rubber housing that extends more than three inches from the base of the drills handle. This means less stress on the wires inside. I have absolutely no show of wear on the part of the cord that gets the most pull.
The Feel and Workings
The drill feels good and well balance in my hand and because the trigger is broad there is no fatigue on a small part of my finger after extended use.
The variable speed feature is pretty responsive to the trigger. It's not the best, but not terrible where the rpms gets away from you.
I like that you can adjust the high rpms down lower so that every squeeze doesn't go all out. This is done with a small turn screw type piece on the front part of the trigger. I would have liked it if it cut down the speed just a bit more for when I put in drywall screws. On small jobs I'd rather just have this simple drill available rather than having to change to a tool more suited for the job.
The reverse is a pivoting bar at the top of the trigger that is easily switched with the one hand operating the trigger.
I do not like the hold button for locking the drill in a running position. I can't reach it well with my thumb as I'm drilling. Sometimes I catch it and sometimes I don't.
This is one of those drills where you do not need a bit key to open and close the chuck, it is keyless. Just hold onto the front part of the 3/8" chuck that is made out of rubber and slowly pull the trigger. This can both tighten and loosen bits when you reverse direction again. The keyless chuck does the job well. I have never had a problem loosening a bit that was locked inside. It also tightens well and the bits don't come loose.
A Few Last Words
I happen to like this tool. It feels impressive in the hand. It's not a toy like some 1/4" bit drills seem to be.
The noise level is pretty much what might be expected. It's not overly loud nor all that quiet. The blue colour is attractive enough and the housing is still in perfect shape.
I paid about $29 on this drill in the Home Depot. They have other, more powerful drills and some with torq features etc. These I needed when I was doing major projects like when I put an extension on my home with my kids. For puttering around jobs, this Ryobi is just fine.
