Pros: Inexpensive, convenient, uses 18V One+ Ryobi battery system, better than general consumer grade
Cons: Plastic feels cheaper than higher end tools. No adjustable blade shoe.
The Bottom Line: As one of the few experienced users I would highly recommend this saw to home owners and do it yourself types!

| idsign's Full Review: Ryobi P510 18V Variable Speed Reciprocating Saw |
I have to say I can sure tell who owns what they write about on here and I may be one of the few that actually writes about what I own and know. This saw is part of Ryobi's One+ system of cordless tools. The system of tools fits neatly in a catagory I would call enthusiast/light commercial duty. Here is some quick information about the saw: 0-3,000 Strokes Per Minute (SPM) no load speed, variableble speed trigger with electric brake, toolless blade clamp for quick and easy blade changes, and overmold on front grip and handle for added user comfort.
I have used Ryobi cordless power tools for over 6 years, two of them commercially. They do hold up well, their tolerances may not be as tight compared to Milwaukee but the work well and hold up to use.
I would like to correct a previous reviewer and say this saw has a toolless blade change system which saves time and frustration. The saw can be used to cut wood, metal, plastic, even concrete with a carbide blade in it. Now you can trim trees with it but thats not what it was designed for, but it does do it well. A previous reviewer also stated that the grip was strange, well all, and I mean all reciprocating saws have the same hand position without a handle, and it is essential to control and finesse the saw when cutting through walls, nail imbedded wood, and near areas which are not to be damaged. I have used my saw quite a bit and compares quite favorably to my corded Makita reciprocating saw. The blade stroke and power seem more than adequate for the price. I used it on two projects: a porch demolition and rebuild which included cutting wood and cutting 16p nails while imbedded wood, and a second story balcony demolition and rebuild. The battery life is very good and because it is part of the +One system you should have a spare on the charger if you are going to be doing a lot of cutting. It performed admireably. I highly recommend this saw.
I also own the following +One tools: mitre saw, circular saw, jig saw, chain saw, impact driver, sander, drill, and soon the three speed hammer drill (another gem in the rough).
