| kxoz419's Full Review: Altec Lansing ACS 43 |
The Altec Lansing ACS43 speakers are probably one of the best speaker systems available on the market, for their price range. Sure, you could spend hundreds of dollars on the top of the range speakers but why? The ACS43 suits all your needs, whether you're a small business, home user or avid gamer.
The speakers are so easy to use. The simple cabling system comprises of 3 cables (power, output, & stereo) which means you don't have to waste time setting them up. The speakers have 2 buttons to control 3 functions; power, volume and treble - how easy can you get!
The ACS43 also allow the connection of headphones straight from the side of one of the speakers. This means you don't have to change any settings on the back of your computer in order to use your headphones. I use this feature quite a lot, and have found it really easy to use. Just plug in your headphones and away you go.
The speakers also come with a sound mixing program called 'SB Audio PC Mixer'. This software allows you to play with settings such as Volume, Wave, Microphone, Synth, etc. Again, this software is very easy to use, and you should be able to have your desired setting within minutes of installing the speakers - which brings me to my next point.
The speakers were a breeze to install. I only had to connect a cable from the right speaker to the left one (to enable stereo sound), attach the power cable, and attach my speakers to the computer by inserting the jack into the sound output port on the back of my computer. All the cords are color coded, so you know what goes where by following the simple wiring diagram. (included in package)
Once you have connected the speakers to the computer, all you have left to do is turn on your computer. It will automatically recognize the new speakers and install them for you automatically, provided you have the installation disk inserted. It can't get much easier than this.
The quality of the speakers is above average, pumping out 10 watts each. You only get distortion at about 4/5 of the maximum allowable volume. By playing with the treble setting you can also change the clarity of the sound you are hearing. I constantly have my favorite Mp3's blaring out every day, and the speakers still work just as well as the day I bought them.
These speakers are not the best available, and so, do not produce the best sound, but what I am saying is that they are very good speakers for their price. As a consumer, you want value-for-money. These speakers are exactly that.
The speakers are also not the smallest available, but they do sit nicely on your desktop. They are stable and can sit right next to your monitor, if space is an issue to you. They also look good - and will not be outdated in a few years time like other speakers will.
So if you are after an above average multimedia speaker system at an average price then the Altec Lansing ACS43 speakers are the way to go. They are very good value for money for any computer user.
