For $80 at Sam's, I thought these little speakers had to better than the tinny sounding cheapie speakers that are standard issue at our company. I had no idea how incredible they would be...
I'm a stickler for details - these speakers are very well designed and have a quality feel even before you plug them in. But once, you plug them in, be prepared to be amazed! The bass is incredible - and there is more where that came from thanks to the adjustable dial on the back of the subwoofer. I find that even at half-bass, I have to be very careful about disturbing my co-workers. I occasionally come in to the office on a weekend to work, and on those occasions you can hear (no, FEEL) these speakers doing their thing from across the building. The sound quality is very good, on par with my very expensive Polk speakers at home.
For the gamers reading, Half-Life is a much more immersive experience when you can feel the percussion of every shot in your entire body! The rocket launcher and heavier weapons are unbelievable. But be careful - you are likely to have the Police show up at your door looking for the carnage!
In a nutshell, I have only one small complaint, and that is the volume controls. There are two small buttons on the right speaker that you press (one UP, one DOWN) that control volume. There is no visual feed back as to where the volume is set. This being said, I would say that if you spend any time at all in front of your computer listening to music or gaming, then this is a no-brainer purchase.
