Pros: Nice, clean sound.
Cons: Sub volume control on back/hard to reach.
The Bottom Line: The sound this speaker system makes is good. The amount of sound is adequate for most listener's needs. The digital controls and hard-to-reach sub volume control are annoying.

This speaker system makes high quality sound for a very decent price. The db rating is quite low. Combine this with a fairly low wattage system, and you get a speaker system that will max out easily if you aren't careful (esp. the sub.)
The subwoofer reaches down to 35hz - not bad for a budget computer system. It seems a little sluggish on fast beating music though.
The mids are fine - the crossover between the upper range of the sub and the lower range of the satellites is pretty seamless.
The highs seem lacking, though are not bad for full-range satellites. If you want crisper highs, look into the Altec systems that offer 2-way satellites.
The construction of this system is solid and sturdy. The wooden enclosure of the sub lends to its nice sound, though the grill is cheaply made.
The placement of the subwoofer volume control is not good. It is on the back next to all the wires and the port: hard to reach. The digital volume controls are annoying. I prefer analogue controls.
Setup is easy enough. One wire from one speaker to sub. One wire from other speaker to the first. A wire to the computer. Plug it in and there you go.
