| isdexecutor's Full Review: Sampo AlphaScan 712 CRT Monitor |
Colour an details are great. No, I mean it. I recommended it to a graffician friend of mine and he's in love since. The terms he used are not quite familiar to me, but the superlatives are. He said:
1. Color fidelity is great once you have calibrated the colours, and you can have different profiles (Day work, Night work, Neon Light, Obscure office, etc)
2. Geometry control is perfect. (And I subscribe to this) You can do WHATEVER YOU WANT.
3. It has Energy-Saving-buggering things but who's using them? Now, really..
4. He said that the size of the monitor is good enough for a DTP monitor. I say it takes 1/3 of my office table. I've seen better.
5. He spends 20hours/day in front of it often enough, and so do I; none of us wear glasses and we are used to it (I'm programming since 1989, he's tinkering the colours since 1992) but we both agree to play some Quake for the remaining 4 hours of the day. This should say someth. about how tired our eyes feel.
6. In the Kilos dept. we both agree that we don't have the faintiest. Once placed never moved. Looks heavy though.
7. No drivers needed for WinMe or Win2000, just the gamma corection and color calibration program. If you're not a graffician, you'll never need them. He said these tools are VERY EASY to use but not frightfully powerful.
8. The Price was the nicest thing: 220 for a 17" when the 14" were still around.
ON THE WHOLE: Go get it!
