Pros: It's fast, reliable, and has good software bundled with it.
Cons: IDE interface, though easier, and pretty much standard, makes it not suitable for professional use

| DroppedD's Full Review: Plextor PlexWriter 8/4/32 CD-RW Burner |
I purchased this CD-RW drive a few months ago, and has performed nearly flawlessly ever since.
Price:
I paid $210 + shipping, which is a very reasonable price for an 8/4/32 CD-RW drive, especially a reliable one with Adaptec EZ-CD Creator bundled.
Drive Info:
This drive records CD-Rs at 8x, which means it records 8 times faster than a 1x, twice as fast as a 4x, etc. This means, in short, it takes about 8 minutes to burn a 650 MB/ 74 minute CD. It records on CD-RWs at 4x.
It handles DAE competently, which is expected from Plextor. This means it can copy songs off of music CDs digitally at a fast speed.
It comes bundled with Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, which is an excellent tool for creating CDs.
The 4MB buffer means less bad CDs burned.
Performance:
Short of buying a SCSI drive and paying through the nose and having to install SCSI cards, this is as good as it gets. The only bad burns I got were my own fault (trying to run IE at the same time I was burning, ended up with buffer underrun...).
Verdict:
Great drive. Fast, reasonably priced, and reliable. The bundled software makes CD creation pretty painless. Well worth the money if you need a CD-RW drive.
