Aside from reading all the good and facinating quips and details about this burner, I want to include some negative feedback in order for those out there to see the full round circle of the item.
In this case, THERE AREN'T ANY. I've had my burner for 3 months and have been burning profusely since. In any case, I have never burned a "coaster". I wouldn't even know how to recognize one since I never had one. There are times where I've burned WAVs and there was a little skipping involved, but it may have been corrupted MP3s.
The ADAPTEC software that comes the machine is extremely good. One set back is that I've read and heard from posts and friends that you should not multi-task while burning CDs.
I have to admit that my machine is below average speed - 166 mHz, pentium, 97 ram, etc. etc. It's a dinosaur. So the complications I may be having may be affecting the peformance of the item. I have had ADAPTEC crash just two times, but I was trying to run other programs at the same time, so that may be a big factor.
Otherwise, two thumbs up on the product. Well executed. To conclude, I will add one more thing. The read on this product is FAST and tolerable.
I recommend this item to the average person burning CDs for friends and for themselves at a moderate rate. I'd say a full burn would take no more than 15 minutes. In addition, it works well to COPY to COPY CDs, and to make great storage - photo albums, VCDs, etc.
I did my research, and for the price @ $150 (using coupons), it's a steal.
