| artiste's Full Review: AOC 7 GLr CRT Monitor |
When you look at your monitor, size makes a difference. The extra large sized monitors are usually more expensive than the rest. Most budget minded people go for the cheaper, smaller models. However, the AOC Specturm 7 Glr offers a solid 17 inches monitor for a decent price: $199.
Spectrum has a 16 inch viewing area, with .25mm dot pitch. It produces clear and sharp images. The resolutions it gives are 1,600 by 1,200 pixels. It has several controls with numerical scales which make them easy to adjust. You can adjust for trapezoid and parallelogram, and also for pincushion balance. These adjust the images. This monitor is not as flat as some from the higher end CRT monitors. The convergence is very good as is the color handling.
I like the controls on this monitor. They are accessed via an innovative dial knob which you press to get the onscreen menus. You can turn this to make adjustments and selections. Compared to other monitors the controls work very well, if not better.
One drawback with this model is that AOC does not supply you with drivers. You must go online to download the drivers from the company's web site. I did not have a problem finding the web site and downloading them. However, it was an inconvenience.
The model comes with a manual which is sparsely written. It does however provide adequate information. AOC also sells speakers and an earphone jack set which complements the monitor.
The monitor is not an exceptional one but you won't find a 17 inch monitor on the market for $199. This is a good choice if you want to upgrade your smaller monitor for a larger one.
