Pros: Large display, easy to set up, simple adjustment of display.
Cons: The back extends kinda far and is sometimes hard to fit on desks.
The Bottom Line: Great size, wonderful flawless colors and display, easiness of display options. Looks wonderful on 1024x768 display. The price isn't bad, and it's one of the best monitors I've seen.

| ddrllama's Full Review: eMachines eView 17 17 inch CRT Monitor |
When I bought this monitor, I was looking mainly for something big, not too expensive, and good. At my mother's house, they have two of them, and I loved it.
It's a 17" monitor, with a 15.8" viewable display. The display can be adjusted with the buttons below the screen, which let you change things like the Contrast, Brightness, size and location of the viewable area, different adjustments for it, and etc.
Below the viewable display, the monitor has one button to get into the display menu, two buttons to navigate around the menu, and two more buttons to adjust values for each setting. Menu items are shown with pictures, and display text as to what it is once an item on the menu is selected. It has many different languages for the menu items--English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Netherlands.
The color on the monitor is great, the best I've personally seen on a monitor, it's pretty bright (adjustable through the menu). Videos and the games I've played work great--much better than my old monitors.
The Windows power-saving features work like a charm, turning the monitor off when told to, I've never had a problem with it. The monitor did not appear to need any software installation at all, but I think there were drivers available for download. I just use the default windows monitor, and I don't think it could possibly be improved upon.
I have had the monitor a bit longer than a year as I recall, and I use it 10+ hours a day. It has never had any problems at all, and it doesn't hurt my eyes. Others may be different, or maybe I am just used to looking at it for long periods of time--but I guess that's just a matter of opinion.
The monitor does appear to take up quite a bit of space on the desk, the back of it extends a lot, but even on a small amount of space, it is able to extend off of the desk and still stay fine, because of it's small stand (which can be removed if needed). The monitor is pretty heavy--not REALLY heavy, but it's not bad for a 17" monitor, I suppose.
Anyways, I do recommend this monitor, for the price, and because it's a great monitor. I intend to use it for a few more years, until I'm able to get a 21"+ monitor for the price I paid of this one. Maybe it will happen someday. =)
