Well, first of all I will tell you why I purchased this amazing Video Board for my computer. I build computers with my father for a hobby-it is probably one of my favorite things to do. I was up-grading my own PC at the time, but I didn't have much money to spend, so I started checking around for prices on new video cards. Not only was I looking for a good price for a new video card, but I was also looking for good performance. One of the first places I went to was Diamond Multimedia's website to check out some of their newest cards. See my father has the Diamond Viper V770, and I had the Diamond Stealth III extreme and my brother has the Diamond Stealth III, so I was kind of partial to the diamond video boards. They have showed great performance for us and we all enjoyed the quality that came with them. As I was looking through the video boards I saw the Diamond Viper II. From that moment on I was hooked into buying this particular product.
I had been to three or four other video card sites, but this one took the cake. The performance charts were amazing and the price was unbelievable. I had never seen a video card the could do all these things and perform that well for under $200. It was amazing! So as soon as this product was available I bought it. I paid $169 for mine but that was straight from the manufacturer. It was $199 at the store.
This product has continued to amaze me since the day I installed it. Of course I have had a few minor problems but that's why they keep making new drivers for this product. The new drivers are very easy to install and take no time at all. This video card even has an output for your television on it. This means that if you have a DVD player in your PC you can watch your DVD's on your TV.
The Diamond Viper II has full OpenGL and Direct3D capabilities. It works great for any new Video games that they are coming out with and performs excellent with most older ones. I play new and used ones all the time and I have not had a problem yet. This card produces quality and speed for a very reasonable price.
Of course this card is not just for anyone. If you do not know how to put new hardware into you PC then please have someone who does do it for you. If you are fairly familiar to the inside of your computer than you should encounter very few problems, if any at all. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves playing games or just loves beautiful graphics and speed. I recommend using an AMD processor with this graphics card and preferable one that is 500mhz or faster. A CD-rom drive that is at least a 24x speed. I use a 15 in. monitor but it looks spectacular on a 17 in. A good sound card is always nice to get the good quality sound with that excellent picture, but I will save that review for another time.
So in closing if your looking for a good quality Video card but are not wanting to spend a lot of money, or just don't have that much to spend, go for the Diamond Viper II. The price has dropped since it first came out so it is even cheaper now then when I got it. In other words....GO GET IT NOW!!!!!!!!!
