| GraWar's Full Review: Rio Diamond Viper II, (32 MB) AGP Video Card |
This card has had a lot written about it mainly because it could have been a real winner for S3/Diamond but hasn't really lived up to its expectations. It has had many of the advanced features of its time like S3TC, TV-Out, Hardware DVD decoding.
Diamond kept insisting that they were going to keep releasing driver updates for this card as they sort out some of the stuff that should be supported but isnt, but these have never really materialised. This has been a big dissapointment for Viper II users who bought this card in good faith.
This card is still £95-00 now when really it should have dropped seeing as the way it has let itself down.
Do not get me wrong this is a good card and the Savage 2000 chipset is a massive upgrade from the previous Savage chipset, the Savage 4.
Overall if you want a card slightly quicker than the original GeForce 256 then this could be for you but I wouldn't hold your breath on Diamond pulling their finger out because they've disappointed a little so far.
