Pros: Possibility of being a Great Card
Cons: Applications on the Market do not yet support it. By the time they will much more powerful cards are available

| garrjo's Full Review: Rio Diamond Viper II, (32 MB) AGP Video Card |
Near the end of last year...I was thinking on building another High Performance PC. In my Checklist to buy was the Viper II, which at the time had rave reviews and excellent marketing to boot. (Did, I ever hear as heavy marketing on the Viper 770?). My friends, although this product is sound and reliable and it does have the possibility to be an extremely good addition to the Viper family...It falls short in one area...90% of the games will not use the technology that it supports as of yet. At the time when they do more powerful, and faster cards will be ready and this defeats the purpose of actually having a graphics card that will do what you need it to.
My humble Opinion:
Although older the cousin still reigns supreme find yourself in the budget for new card either do it right and buy a GFORCE DDR or Get a very good card (Viper 770 Ultra) and be happier than what you will be when you find that you sacrificed much more than you bargained for when purchasing the S3 Viper II.
Last Words:
If you own a Viper II hopefully you can either a: Trade It in for a small return. b: Throw it farther than you can spit. c: See yourself upgrading yet again... and of course d: Buying a real card that isn't produced by a throwback of the computer industry.
