The only reason i bought the MX400 was because at the time I got it at a discounted price when it first came out. At first it looked like it would be a pretty good rival to the Sound Blaster series costing about $25 less than the Sound Blaster Live! Value card and offering very similar features.
Problems
When I first received the card the first thing I noticed that the rear speakers did not work. I surfed over to the diamond web site and upgraded to the newest drivers and that seemed to fix the problem. The next thing I noticed about the card was when I was playing an mp3 through winamp and another sound was played, the winamp playback would momentarily pause to allow the other sound to play. This was not supposed to happen. Finally when gaming, my computer would slowdown tremendously. After removing the audio card and trying to play the game again, I determined that the audio card was causing the slowdown. As it turns out the audio card uses about 45% of your computers processing speed.
To sum it all up. Pay the extra $25 and get a Sound Blaster Live! Card!
