Pros: Great sound for the price
Cons: Haven't thought of any yet
The Bottom Line: Altec has been building Quality Speakers for years, never could afford their Voice of the Theater Stereo Speakers but these will certainly give your Computer a large Voice!

Was doing a lot of MP3 work lately and had my old Generic Stereo pair cranked up a bit. They're large 2-way units that are now about 5 years old and I noticed a bit of a crackle out of one of them so I decided it was time to upgrade.
Limited to under $100 and not wanting a full 5 speaker surround set (where do you put the back pair anyway?) I cranked up all the units on display at BestBuy. The ONLY ones under $100 that sounded good to me were the Altecs.
At Home, it was a Revelation! What I thought was good before is now simply Incredible. The large wood enclosed subwoofer makes the music fill the room, the .50 calibers from my P-47 in European Air War now pack a Punch and the DVD Digital Sound will probably have my neighbors banging on the door one night soon.
I even kept the old speakers and plugged them into the TV in the Living Room, they sound better than the 3inch speakers in the set so I guess that makes 2 improvements for the price of 1.
Definitely worth it, glad I've got 'em, made a Big difference to my ears but not to my wallet!
