I don't know much about subwoofers. I figured I didn't need them, that's what I have a home stereo for. But my home stereo bit the bullet, and I listen to MP3's so much nowadays that I figured I'd look into getting some better speakers for my computer. I picked these out. They're a bit odd, but they sound grrreat. They definitely kick a lot more tookus than I imagined they would, and I can crank them right up and as long as it's not TOO loud, it sounds all good. These things are loud. Very loud. And since my main stereo (not the one that bit the bullet) used to be a Kenwood deck and changer with 4 Kenwood eXcelon 5x7 speakers and two 12" JL Audio subwoofers and a Kicker ZR240 amp (I'm talking in the car now), and I'm impressed by this little 'puter setup . . . I think that says a lot for itself. Shame I still live with my father, otherwise I'd be turning it up all the time.
I haven't done much in the way of shopping for computer speakers, so I don't know how well these compare to other ones in their price range, but I do know that these sound good, so if you've got a hankerin' for some low-end with your computer and have the money to spend, it's definitely worth it.
