mrharwood's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Jornada 540 Pocket PC
I am an inspector that travels on the road, making numerous appointments with clients. I purchased the Jornada to help keep everything organized. Since purchasing it, I find that it has helped me a lot, and the simple, easy-to-use Windows operating system is much easier to use than the Palm-based OS.
The only problem I have had was with the display - which died on me within 1 week of having the unit(the backlight went, which I was told is a common problem with many Palms). The store I purchased it at replaced the unit right away, and since then, no problems.
Even the new unit still has problems in direct sunlight - you have to look really close to see what it says.
I even dropped the unit onto an asphalt driveway once, and although the case was slightly dented, there have been no problems since.
The hot-sync feature is quick, and enables quick downloading and uploading of files that you need on the go, including spread-sheets and word documents.
Overall, I am not disappointed in the least about my purchase - it was a very good value for the money, and as long as you are not trying to use it as a video game system, it is fine.
