| shmeles's Full Review: Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick |
After a lot of looking around, I decided to go with this joystick for a few reasons.
One reason is that Microsoft has great gaming hardware. The last joystick I owned was a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro, circa 1997. I really enjoyed using that joystick, and decided I wanted another Microsoft product.
Secondly, I really wanted a force feedback joystick. I love playing games like Star Wars: Starfighter and Crimson Skies, and they gameplay improved 10 fold by adding force feedback.
Even in games without force feedback, this joystick has great precision. It's very smooth, and is sensitive enough for my taste.
One feature i like about this joystick is the comfort. The ridges on the stick make holding it very comfortable. I also like how it's very well weighted. The weight is evenly distributed, and sits well without moving from the force feedback.
The only thing I didn't like was the foot print of the stick. It's not that i didn't like, it's just that I have to put something somewhat negative. My desk is crowded as it is. I know the base is big for a reason, to house the AC adaptor, and all the motors. It isn't a terrible problem. Since I have a wireless keyboard, it's easy to move it out of the way.
Over all, i have to say i love this joystick. It's amazing both as a force feedback, and non-force joystick. The precision is killer, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new gaming stick.
