| goldiney2004's Full Review: Compaq Presario 5BW130 (180504-003) PC Desktop |
For about 4 years before buying this computer, we were running a suped up 66MHZ. We had upgraded it(sadly) about 3 times all the way up to 200MHZ, its procecessor clock's maximum. It had an outdated Windows 95( to old to run WIndows 98). The CD Drive was a slow and pitiful 4x, and it barely kept up with my external 56K modem. We eventually got sick and tired of the daily crashing, so we decided it was time to get a new computer.
As soon as my new 700MHZ Pentium III processor computer was purchased, I ran upstairs with the box and couldn't wait to plug this thing in the wall. I was amazed by its huge 21+" monitor. The so called "tower" was several times smaller than my old 4 and a half foot tower on my old computer. The tower itself was outlined in a clear but dark blue color, and on the bottom of the tower was a CD holder capable of holding your favorite games, songs, or blank CD's. The computer already came with an internal CD reader/writer. Located on the top of the tower was the first time I had seen 2 CD drives and a floppy drive in the same computer. Located on both left and right sides of the huge monitor were two great quality sound speakers, easily controlled by a volume + - already embedded in the keyboard. Besides the + - volume control on the keyboard, there were many green push buttons that could connect you to the internet and to a certain site by presssing it. Some examples- Banking, Brokerage, Pay Bills, News, Sports, Travel, Shopping, Tickets, Music, Videos, Greetings, Games, Auctions, My home site, etc. etc.
Once the computer was all hooked up and plugged into the wall I soon found myself in the new ear of computer technology. Unlike my old suped up 66Mhz computer, it didn't take 5+ minutes to load up Windows, istead it took only a matter of seconds. As soon as Windows loaded up, I popped in and installed my very first game- Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. I was amazed by the smooth and detailed graphics, and was shocked at the realistic flight control of the aircraft.
After a couple of hours on my game, I decided to test its Internet capabilities. As soon as I connected to the Internet I started web searching, just to see how fast the modem was capable of loading web pages. I was not fully satisfied with its modem, so I went out and bought a new one and easily installed it into my computer.
I suggest this computer to anyone who is looking for a reasonable price range, but fast and efficient computer.
