| islandalex's Full Review: Gateway EV 700 17 inch CRT Monitor |
I recently brought a computer and chose this monitor for its ease of use and affordability.
It has a nice large screen that is usefull when viewing web pages made for bigger screns. DVD's are great to watch on it too, mainly because it doesnt emit that much glare to strain your eyes. Who needs a tv when you have a monitor anyway? It is a waste to get both, especialy when you are crammed into a dorm room like me. However, it would be much easier to move around if it weighed a little less and was smaller. But im sure that would shoot up the price!
It has a power saver mode, and it switches on and off automatically with the computer. (no more forgetting to turn my monitor off for me!)
While it does not have the best picture quality, I have still been able to design web sites on it. THe colors are simelar to the "real world" colours.
It doesnt heat up too much.
There is an area on the monitor to adjust the contract, allignment, ect. It is very easy to use, although it takes getting used to to fold the panel back up...there is a knack to it!. The De-Gause function is very helpfull. It also operates in a number of languages. You can change the Contrast, brightness, Horizontal size and position, Vertical size and position, Trapezoid shape and language.
About the downside, is makes a high pitch noise every now and a gain, espeially if i am viewing an all white page.
