Pros: Cheaper than hell at $749 from the factory outlet in Houston
Cons: A worthless piece of junk!
The Bottom Line: If you're a gambler on a very tight budget go for it, if not, pay extra and get something that is a lot more reliable.

| rhkwon's Full Review: Compaq Presario 12XL300 (199375-003) PC Notebook |
I bought this computer during a Compaq sale a couple of weeks ago and when I saw the price for this P3, 750Mghz with DVD, I could not resist. This unit was a refurbished model with the only flaw being a cosmetic scratch. I snapped this thing without hesitation. I had heard about Compaqa reliability problems but ignored them in the frenzy and euphoria of getting a P3 laptop for only $749!
Well, that was one of my biggest mistakes I have made in my life. The unit itself is fairly heavy and right out of the box, the screen was hazy and it took awhile to finally get it adjusted correctly. The internet connection took forever. I could never get the media player to play videos correctly. The OS is Windows ME and I'm not sure if this is the cause of all the problems but I have had so many problems with this unit.
First, the computer floppy drive was never able to read floppy disks and when I would try to eject the disk, it would stick and I would have to pull it out with pliers!
Second, whenever I would download software it would never load.
Third, the computer was so slow. Even minor software applications like Word would take forever. And when I would double click on an application, it would take forever to load.
Fourth, after a week, the computer would not turn on.
Fifth, after a week and 1 day, the screen would not come on.
Six, I did'nt keep this computer long enough to write about other potential future problems.
Seven, after this I said the hell with it I'm returning this piece of sh-- and getting my money back!
Compaq has a 10 day return policy on their refurbished computers and I returned my after this period so I'm not sure what's going to happen but I did write in my return letter that I had no intention of buying another Compaq product again. We'll see what happens.
Basically, I am very unhappy with my purchase. I could'nt believe how slow it was and how unreliable it was. Not only has my faith been shattered in Compaq products, but laptops as well.
Moral of the story? Research before you buy!
